The Qur’an clearly indicates that the Jews will regain their temple in Jerusalem. This is an uncomfortable position for Muslims for historical and cultural reasons. Yet the Qur’an says what it says.
And we decreed for the children of Isrā’īl in the law
That you will work corruption in the land twice and wax high to a great height.
Then when the promise came of the first of the two we raised up against them servants of ours of severe might who conducted a search into the dwellings
And it is a promise fulfilled.
Then we returned to you a turn over them
And aided you with wealth and children and made you greater in influence.
If you do good, you do good for your souls
And if you do evil, it is for them.
Then when the promise of the latter comes
That they should disgrace your countenances
And enter the place of worship as they entered it the first time
And lay waste to all that they overcome by laying waste[…]
It may be that your lord will have mercy on you.
But if you go back we go back.
And we made Hell a dungeon for those who spurn guidance while claiming virtue. (17:4-8)
And the matter of the Hour is only as the twinkling of an eye – or nearer.
They ask thee about the Hour: When is its arrival?
Say thou: Knowledge thereof is but with my lord.
None reveals its time save he.
It weighs heavily in the heavens and the earth.
It comes not upon you save unexpectedly.
They question thee as though thou wert privy thereto.
Say thou: Knowledge thereof is but with God.
But most men know not. (7:187-188)
O children of Isrā’īl: remember my favour wherewith I favoured you
And fulfil the pledge to me.
I will fulfil the pledge to you.
And me, fear me.
And believe in what I have sent down confirming what is with you
And be not first to deny it.
And sell not my proofs for a cheap price.
And me, be in prudent fear of me.
And clothe not truth with vanity
Nor conceal the truth.
And you know.
And uphold the duty
And give the purity
And be lowly with the lowly.
Enjoin you virtue upon mankind and forget yourselves when you read the law?
Will you then not use reason!
And seek help in patience and duty.
And it is hard save for the humble:
Those who consider that they will meet their lord
And that to him they are returning.
14 Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord.
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
